The Państwowa Szkoła Muzyczna will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year. In June, the most musically talented students will take the entrance examinations for the tenth time.
Currently, 130 students are studying at the PSM in piano, violin, accordion, cello, guitar, clarinet, trumpet and double bass classes. From September, it will also be possible to study the flute and, probably, receive training in solo singing.
Over the past eight years, more than 50 graduates have left the school. A considerable number of them continue their education at second-level music schools in Wrocław, Legnica and Zgorzelec, and even in Kalisz and Gdańsk. The school has recently established its own orchestra. Anyone who has already left the school and enjoys making music together can join it.
The PSM’s increasingly active involvement outside the school deserves emphasis. The school regularly organizes concerts and musical mornings for children from general-education schools, and is represented at various instrumental competitions.
The Społeczne Ognisko Muzyczne, located in the same building at ul. Grunwaldzka, demonstrates similar activity. It has a similar number of students, mostly in piano and accordion classes. Enrolment at the Ognisko will also take place in June.
