One of the events organised during the “Days of Bolesławiec” was a football tournament for unaffiliated neighbourhood teams for primary-school-aged children. The number of teams entered exceeded the organisers’ expectations (MOSiR and BKS). Thirty teams took part in the competition, divided into two age groups: the younger group, up to fifth grade – 8 teams, and the older group, sixth to eighth grade – 22 teams. More than 200 young footballers in total. The tournament was played in a knockout format, meaning that the losing team was eliminated. In the younger group final, FC King defeated FC Piast 2–0. Both goals were scored by Marcin Śmigielski. Alongside him, the winning team featured: Piotr Czarniecki, Wojtek Pawłowicz, Tomek Ruchała, Łukasz Miżdal, Grzegorz Witoń and Rafał Szwalowski. Third place went to Nordis Bank.
In the older group, Banda Św. Mikołaja and Juventus Turin competed for the title. The “famous” Italians were defeated 2–0. Banda’s goals were scored by Jakub Wołyński and Marek Sienkiewicz. The winners were also represented by: Łukasz Cel, Jarek Solski, Mariusz Rościszewski, Krzysztof Miżdal and Kamil Abramowicz.
All participants received commemorative medals and sweets, while the winning teams received beautiful cups and a ball funded by Józef Kawałko, coach of BKS’s first team.
A very successful event, attracting growing interest.
