A long discussion about the takeover of primary schools by the local authorities and the concerns associated with it turned out to have been "overblown". Primary schools now have a specific guardian and administrator. I read with envy in the latest issue of "Głos Bolesławca" the City Office’s information about the division of expenditure for school funding. The sums mentioned in the information may seem incomprehensible to someone unfamiliar with the situation of the schools (perhaps too small or too large?). Compared with secondary schools, which had long since exhausted and exceeded their funds for material expenses by April, the words repairs, maintenance and expenditure seem something bordering on fiction.
Schools have problems purchasing chalk, cleaning supplies, etc. Parent Councils cannot maintain the schools either. Bills for electricity, water, gas and telephone services are put away on shelves under the heading "debt".
Summer is ahead of us, but what after summer? After the holidays?
P.S. I inform the Esteemed Readers and young people that, as a result of savings, evening schools operating after the Basic Vocational School have been closed since 1 September 1996.
The path of education for adult young people is being closed.
