The result of a full year of work by the piano section’s students and teachers was the 2nd Piano Competition, held on 10 June in the PSM’s new auditorium. The competition was divided into three age categories. Each participant performed three pieces of varied form and character, including one work by a Polish composer.
The jury, chaired by Małgorzata Gajlesz, MA, a lecturer at WSP in Zielona Góra, evaluated playing technique, the accuracy of the interpretation and the performer’s artistic impression. In the youngest group, the winner was Katarzyna Wąsik from the class of Małgorzata Niewęgłowska. Agata Ochnio, a student of Małgorzata Kuśnierz, took second place, while third place went to Domilika Kustosz from the class of Urszula Patalej. The best in the group comprising Grades III and IV was Aleksandra Tambur, a student of Dorota Popek. Alicja Szaja from the class of Lidia Jop took second place, and Dominika Naglik from the class of Nana Tatanaszwili took third place. In the youngest group, the competition was won by Iwona Kubina, a student of Urszula Patalej; Kajetan Świtalski from the class of Lidia Jop took second place, while third place went to Małgorzata Maciaszek, also from the class of L. Jop. The audience award went to Kajetan Świtalski for his performance of L. van Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata.
The laureates and all the competition participants received gifts funded by the School Social Council and Mr Stanisław Wiza, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks.
