(M.T.S.) A resident of Bolesławiec, deputy police commander in Lwówek Śląski, Superintendent Zdzisław Mirecki is a well-known collector of calling cards. This hobby has enabled him to establish numerous contacts with other enthusiasts of this kind and become friends with many interesting people.
Most often, this involves exchanging correspondence, but there are also personal visits. For example, Mr. and Mrs. Mirecki hosted an Israeli police officer and his wife, and later visited him during the period when an assassination attempt was made on that country's prime minister.
Recently, Mr. Zdzisław received a pleasant surprise. He was invited by the Israeli ambassador, Gershon Zohar, to a formal reception at the Royal Castle in Warsaw to mark the 48th anniversary of that country's independence. He accepted the invitation and kept the elegant invitation as a memento for his collection; it indicates his membership in the Polish Section of the International Police Association.
