On 8–9 May this year, a meeting was held in Warsaw for heads of municipalities selected for the pilot Active Reduction of Unemployment in Rural Areas Programme. One municipality from each voivodeship was selected for the programme. The Jeleniogórski Voivode decided to select the rural municipality of Osiecznica, with 28% unemployment; hence the presence of our municipal head, Waldemar Nalazek, at the meeting. The government side was represented at the meeting by a team appointed by Deputy Prime Minister R. Jagieliński, comprising representatives of economic ministries and government agencies.
The initiator and patron of the programme is the Ministry of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister R. Jagieliński. Its overarching objective is to reduce unemployment in rural areas by creating favourable infrastructural conditions for potential investors. The meeting had an organisational and consultative character, with both sides—the government and local government—presenting their proposals and expectations related to the implementation of the aforementioned programme.
By joining the implementation of this programme, Osiecznica Municipality sees in it—not only the possibility of reducing unemployment—but also an opportunity for further dynamic development.
