For the sixth time, the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre organized the city table tennis championships. A record number of nearly sixty competitors took part in the tournament. The youngest participant, Krzysztof Dmuchowski, was 10, while the oldest, Sławomir Respondek, was 66. Juniors made up the largest group. Ten players took part in the category for competitors over 40. In the future, it would seem appropriate to create a separate youth category among the juniors and invite women to participate in the competition. Perhaps the Inter-School Sports Centre will join in organizing tournaments in this popular game? Naturally, this would require a somewhat larger venue than the gymnasium at Primary School No. 3. The level of the championships in the senior category deserves attention. The winners in this group—Robert Tomczyk, Norbert Stolicki and Szymon Dajczuk /still a junior/—form the core of the team that took first place in the district /voivodeship/ league and will compete in the inter-voivodeship league. In the junior group, the aforementioned Szymon Dajczuk won, ahead of Ryszard Szymański and Marek Król. Remigiusz Kasperczyk triumphed in the older seniors’ group. He left Sławomir Respondek, Jan Żuralski and Stanisław Maj behind.
