This year, during the winter break, the bitter frost made itself felt by everyone. Not everyone, however, was forced to freeze on sleds over a thin layer of snow. The Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn, offered children a so-called fun-filled winter break. GOKiS staff in nine localities across our municipality “pulled out all the stops” to come up with something interesting. In Trzebień, the children were looked after by Elżbieta Jawna and Janina Kraczkowska; in Kraśnik Dolny, by Małgorzata Zawada; and in Żeliszów, by Sylwia Dobrzańska together with the local “4 H Club” (which was established thanks to the efforts of the Żeliszów Housewives’ Circle). In Ocice, Bernadeta Biegacz worked together with the staff of the primary school in Ocice; in Kruszyn, Grażyna Wężyk; while in Łąka, Nowe Jaroszowice, Stare Jaroszowice and Łaziska, I (Beata Widera) ran the fun-filled winter-break activities. It is difficult for me to objectively determine where the winter break was more or less successful (the children should say), but the very fact that the children were cared for during this period deserves praise.
An additional GOKiS employee, Ryszard Rojek, also travelled to Ocice and Bożejowice, where he conducted a shortened dance course for the winter-break participants.
I would like to sincerely thank the ladies from the Housewives’ Circle in Stare Jaroszowice (especially Krystyna Żudziewicz), who made sure the children had a tasty winter break by offering hot potato pancakes, crêpes, cocoa and tea.
The fun-filled winter break was short, but I hope that its memory will last until the next winter break.
