What if the traffic police did something about it
In our town’s Market Square, on days when civil weddings take place, strange things happen... But the incident described below, which took place yesterday, November 25, at approximately 2 p.m., had already taken on the characteristics of a scandal—and is a mockery of the police...
A cavalcade of cars carrying wedding guests set off from outside the Civil Registry Office, which they had just left. At the front was a large black multi-passenger limousine, registration number JEC 6737. The cars set off at full speed, with all their horns blaring, and before heading to the wedding venue, they made three laps around the square... But that would have been nothing if not for the siren of the black limousine at the front, bearing the number given above. It was a continuous, piercing wail; beside it, the sirens of emergency ambulances or fire engines heading to the scene of an accident or fire sounded like child’s play!
It was not an ordinary car horn, but some kind of supersiren that may not be used in cars. The ordinary horns of the other cars sounded like chicks chirping alongside a crowing rooster!
People stood speechless; others opened their windows to find out what was happening. They are used to a cavalcade of cars setting off from outside the Civil Registry Office after a wedding and heading straight to the wedding venue, without circling the square, and to only the first car using its siren—although even that is already a traffic violation.
The residents of the Market Square have the right to expect the police to ensure their peace and quiet.
Perhaps I am mistaken; perhaps the Bolesławiec police issue permits for sirens to be blared, or perhaps they do not want to know about this violation? It is widely known that wedding celebrations take place, like yesterday’s, during the pre-Advent period, around Christmas, New Year’s and Easter. Shouldn’t a police patrol be present briefly on these days, during the early afternoon hours, to punish one hothead or another, although I have also heard the following opinion:
- The cost of a wedding celebration is approximately 50–150 million in the old currency! So what is a police fine for blaring sirens, when the newlyweds are driving with style...
Perhaps we have completely lost our minds??? What do I know...
