The celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Polish Red Cross in Lower Silesia concluded with a formal gathering on 8 December 1995 at Bolesławiec’s Wedding Palace, attended by the most distinguished volunteers of our Association.
The gathering was honored by the presence of representatives of various circles in our city: Deputy Mayor of Bolesławiec Jan Jasiukiewicz, Dean of the Bolesławiec Deanery, Reverend Prelate Władysław Rączka, a representative of the City Board and editor-in-chief of "Głos Bolesławca," Paweł Śliwko, commander of Military Unit 12-59, Lieutenant Colonel Bogdan Kośny, representative of the Bolesławiec Enthusiasts’ Society Wacław Wawszkiewicz, and Mayor of the Town and Municipality of Nowogrodziec Edward Szczerbień, as well as the provincial authorities of the Red Cross, represented by Bartłomiej Lenart.
Following a brief presentation of the Polish Red Cross’s activities in the Bolesławiec area by the President of the Local PCK Board in Bolesławiec, Stanisław Kozłowski, a group of distinguished activists was honored with 50th-anniversary commemorative medals, decorations, PCK badges and certificates.
The Bronze Cross of Merit was awarded to honorary blood donor Jan Burzawa. The 50th-anniversary medals were awarded to: Stanisław Kozłowski, Sławomir Leszczyński, Elżbieta Szczerbień, Janina Łukasiewicz, Lucjan Opaczyński, Antoni Szymonik, Janusz Rupp and Stanisław Jędruszek.
The Honorary Badges of the Polish Red Cross were awarded to: the Bolesławiec Enthusiasts’ Society, Dr. Iwona Opałka, Janina Łukasiewicz, Małgorzata Potoczała, Grażyna Więckowska, Bogdan Kośny, Marek Kaszuba, Adam Fornal, Jan Żyżak, Roman Bodak and Jan Blacha.
At the ceremony, 25 badges for Distinguished Honorary Blood Donors of the 1st and 2nd degrees were also presented after donations of 12 and 18 liters of blood. Representatives of the local governments of Bolesławiec, Osiecznica and Nowogrodziec, as well as Reverend Prelate Władysław RĄCZKA, received commemorative certificates in recognition of their assistance and support for our activities.
