The Voivodeship Civil Defence Inspectorate, together with the Education Authority in Jelenia Góra, organized a competition for students of upper-secondary schools in the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship entitled “What Do I Know About Civil Defence?”
The aim of the competition was to promote the humanitarian ideals of civil defence among upper-secondary school students. The third, final stage was held in Jelenia Góra on 28 February 1997. The Voivodeship Civil Defence Inspectorate prepared the theoretical and practical sections, and all the competition questions were based on the curriculum of Defence Preparation and covered:
civil defence,
ecology,
sanitary training.
There were 12 upper-secondary schools from Jelenia Góra, Kamienna Góra, Lubań and Zgorzelec, including the team from I LO in Bolesławiec, represented by:

We are pleased to report that this team won first place and the Jelenia Góra Voivode’s Cup, bringing a diploma and book prizes back to Bolesławiec. The students were prepared by Mr Jan Blacha, MA, and Col. (ret.) Henryk Jędrych.
