The Bolesławiec region, with its rich historical past, dynamic social and economic development, and achievements in the field of culture, deserves to be commemorated and documented.
The launch of publishing activities by the editorial team of "Głos Bolesławca" in 1992 provided a good opportunity to systematically present the numerous initiatives undertaken by the local authorities for the development of Bolesławiec and the surrounding towns.
The publication issued by the Bolesławiec Enthusiasts Association opened its welcoming pages to the residents of the Bolesławiec region, serving as a forum for all those who cared, and still care, about the future of the town and municipality. The publication's aim was, and remains, to present the region's rich history, record current events, cultivate residents' traditions, and enable readers to exchange views.
It is significant that "Głos Bolesławca" was never a magazine intended to pursue any political objectives; consequently, it was willingly read by people of different convictions, representing all professions and age groups. The publication became a kind of chronicle of the town and municipality of Bolesławiec, eventually extending its reach to the neighbouring municipalities of Nowogrodziec and Osiecznica.
Among the magazine's rich and diverse subject matter, there was also room to present the achievements and problems faced by the rural municipality of Bolesławiec. Our many years of fruitful cooperation with your editorial team enabled us, through "Głos", to present initiatives carried out for the benefit of village residents and to share with readers both our successes and our failures. We sought to bring municipal issues closer to everyone interested, which we consider our shared success. The publication provided space both for presenting our municipality's everyday problems and for outlining long-term plans and programmes for the social and economic development of our villages. Through your publication, we were able to showcase the cultural achievements of residents, mainly schoolchildren, and present charming accounts and memories from children who took part in colonies and camps organised by the municipality as part of the summer holiday programme.
The editorial team of "Głos Bolesławca" supported and became involved in organising many valuable charity campaigns that left lasting and tangible results, thereby earning the immense gratitude of residents. We are proud that, by financially supporting your initiatives, we too contributed to the successful implementation and completion of the campaigns to purchase an ambulance, a heart ultrasound machine and a laparoscope.
On behalf of the Council and Board of the Bolesławiec Municipality, and on my own behalf, I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of "Głos Bolesławca". In offering our anniversary congratulations, we would like to thank all the editorial staff for the tremendous effort, enthusiasm, perseverance and commitment devoted to publishing your monthly magazine, promoting the Bolesławiec region and addressing its issues.
