The memorial is intended for primary school, lower secondary school and upper secondary school students. Around 80 people took part in the competition, including participants from Bolesławiec, Bogatynia, Jelenia Góra, Zgorzelec, Szprotawa and Wrocław. Although the weather was not favorable, the municipal stadium was full of sporting excitement. The young athletes competed in javelin and discus throwing, shot put and 300-meter races.

- Kordian Mazurkiewicz in the men’s discus throw category
- Aneta Bujak in the women’s javelin throw category (lower secondary school)
- Paweł Rajczyk in the men’s javelin throw category (lower secondary school)
- Karolina Koczoń in the women’s javelin throw category
- Wiktor Niezgodziński in the men’s javelin throw category
- Partyk Pieczarka in the men’s 300-meter race category (lower secondary school)
- Łukasz Rogacki in the men’s 300-meter race category (younger athletes)
This was the second edition of the event held in honor of Stanisław Merdas, a teacher, athletics coach and founder of the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy Bolesłavia. “He is probably the greatest Bolesławiec authority in the field of athletics,” says Bartosz Gruman, the competition organizer. “He was a very well-known and highly respected person not only in Lower Silesia, but throughout Poland,” he adds.
