The kidnapping of the middle-school student, as it turns out, is a serious matter and could have ended much worse. We have learned that both kidnappers, 21-year-old Mateusz N. and his peer Patryk J., are suspects in another case involving attempted murder. Their case is being heard by the Regional Court in Szczecin.

The Bolesławiec Prosecutor’s Office believes that both detainees are dangerous and filed a motion for pre-trial detention. The court decided that both kidnappers would be remanded in custody. The young men admitted to kidnapping the boy, but deny threatening to kill him. They even claim that they assured him that nothing would happen to him. Meanwhile, as the middle-school student’s father said in an interview with Boleslawiec.org, the kidnappers allegedly threatened to shoot the boy if he tried to escape.

Mateusz N. and Patryk J. are neighborhood friends. Their family members briefly appeared in court today, but left when they saw the media. The kidnappers claim that they needed the money they demanded for the boy to live on and to pay for a defense lawyer in the trial taking place at the court in Szczecin.

The Bolesławiec Prosecutor’s Office intends to charge them with abducting a minor.
