A Reader contacted us asking for intervention in this matter. He is a part-time student. As he wrote: “According to the new timetable, the first train from Bolesławiec to Wrocław will not run on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s a scandal!” The train, which ran daily at 5:14 as recently as last year, now departs from Bolesławiec at 6:14 on weekends. Classes for a large proportion of students begin at 8:00. Meanwhile, the first weekend train to the capital of Lower Silesia is scheduled to arrive only at 8:15. And, as we know, not all lecturers are understanding.
“I don’t really understand what guided PKP or the marshal’s office in eliminating this connection on weekends,” writes the Reader, emphasizing that the problem affects not only students but also many residents who used this train to commute to work.
We managed to establish that the reason for this change to the timetable was financial. “The main reason for shifting the train’s departure time is the relatively low number of passengers on the Bolesławiec–Legnica section and the resulting high deficit generated by this connection,” says Beata Pelc from the press office of the marshal’s office. “We will reanalyze the timetable on this section and try to find an alternative connection option for students traveling to Wrocław on their days off,” she adds.
