During the most recent session of the County Council, the third prize of the 7th International Sileziany 2007 Biennial of Artistic Textiles for Children and Young People was presented. The award winner was Maciej Kowalski, a resident of Bolesławiec and a pupil at Primary School No. 5. The boy was accompanied by his mother, Dorota.
The 7-year-old resident of Bolesławiec has attended art classes at the Youth Cultural Centre since he was four. The boy is interested in various artistic techniques: painting, graphic art and ceramics. He also likes model making, especially assembling model aircraft and ships. Since this year’s Sileziany biennial theme was “On the Wings of the Wind,” the young artist’s prize-winning work depicts an aircraft. The work was made using the batik technique.
