TOP Bolesławiec played its first match of the final phase at home against Olavia Oława. The start of the set was surprising. Bolesławiec were trailing 0–4! At 1–5, they began to make up the deficit. Induła performed brilliantly as setter, Świerzewski in the middle, while Biczak, Rutkowski and Potocki dominated in defence; Kozłowski at the net, and Pierzchalski scored points from serves. As a result, TOP took an 8–7 lead in the first phase and held on to it until the end of the set, winning 25–19.
The second part of the match was controlled by the Bolesławiec team from the outset. Successful attacks by Kozłowski, Potocki, Rutkowski and Świerzewski, along with excellent blocking, deprived the opponents of any hope of victory. In the end, TOP won 25–17.
The third set was initially even. Bolesławiec built an 8–5 lead, but then squandered it, allowing the team from Oława to reduce the deficit to 12–13. The point-for-point battle continued until TOP led 17–16. At the end of the set, the hosts once again built a lead of several points. Everyone played well without exception, including substitutes Czarniecki and Marcinkiewicz. Ultimately, Marcinkiewicz scored the point that secured victory in the set and the match with a successful attack from the wing, allowing TOP to add three points to its table tally. These points put the Bolesławiec team in first place.
TOP played with: Piotr Kozłowski (captain), Piotr Induła, Sławomir Potocki, Mateusz Świerzewski, Paweł Rutkowski, Dariusz Pierzchalski, Kamil Biczak (libero), Marcin Czarniecki, Wojciech Marcinkiewicz and Krzysztof Wantuch. The coach is Bogusław Mienculewicz.
The main rival of the Bolesławiec team, Burza Wrocław, also won 3–0 (away in Góra), but scored fewer so-called small points and is currently second. Pogoń occupy third place, with Olavia last.
Next Saturday, 2 February, the Bolesławiec team face a tougher task. TOP will play at home against Pogoń Góra. In the regular season, our team played two five-set matches against the team from Góra.
