On Saturday, 5 January, the Bolesławiec volleyball players played the return away match against Group B runners-up Pogoń Góra. The match promised a fight for every point—and that is exactly how it turned out! In November last year, our team lost 3–2 to Pogoń.

Our team began the first set with powerful attacks, effective blocks and a point-for-point battle. Initially, the Bolesławiec players had the advantage, and their opponents could not keep up. However, our team made several errors, which contributed to the final score of 25–20 for Pogoń.

The second part of the match was a showcase for our team. At the beginning of the set, TOP gained a seven-point lead. The opponent could not cope with the serves of Paweł Rutkowski and Mateusz Świerzewski. Our libero, Kamil Biczak, played an excellent match. This player’s good receptions and defensive play contributed to winning the set 25–17 for the Bolesławiec team.

The third set also went our players’ way. The Bolesławiec volleyball players controlled the score throughout. Our setters deserve praise for often confusing the opponent’s block. The set ended 25–20 for TOP.

The fourth set was characterized by a fierce point-for-point battle. Many unfavorable and unjustified referee decisions significantly influenced the result of 27–25 for Pogoń.

The fifth set was to decide which team truly deserved first place in the group. Our libero had to leave the court due to feeling unwell. He was replaced by Krzysztof Wantuch, who put in an excellent performance. Our players led 8–6 at the changeover. The rest of the set went the Bolesławiec team’s way. Roman Kaczurowski came on to strengthen the block. Dariusz Pierzchalski decided the set with an excellent attack from the back row. The tie-break ended 15–10 for our players, and the entire match ended with a 3–2 result for TOP.

Receiving player Sławomir Potocki also deserves praise, having recorded 100% efficiency in attack. It is also worth adding that with this victory, the team gave him a wonderful present for his 21st birthday, which he celebrated on 5 January. Many happy returns!
