Police officers from Bolesławiec came across a sweater and a belt with a buckle, probably made in the GDR, in a forest about 2 km from the place where they found the beaten 69-year-old taxi driver from the "Taxi-Plus" company.

It was established that the attack took place on Saturday after 3:00 p.m. near Krępnica, close to Bolesławiec. That afternoon, the 69-year-old answered a telephone call, after which he did not return to the taxi stand. An unknown perpetrator beat the taxi driver and fled in his car. People who had happened to come to feed the birds found the unconscious 69-year-old, who had suffered a head injury. The victim’s condition is serious, but his life is not in danger.

Taxi drivers believe that the perpetrator may have been someone from Bolesławiec, as he knew the taxi stand’s telephone number. In their opinion, he may even have been one of the "Taxi-Plus" company’s customers. Some employees of the company communicate with one another via CB radio. The victim, however, did not have such a device.

The attacked man is a pensioner. He had been driving a taxi for more than 30 years. He appeared at the taxi stand only occasionally. He worked for about four to five hours a day. Sometimes, when he felt unwell, he did not go out on a fare at all.

Police officers from Bolesławiec suspect that the perpetrator may have tried to flee abroad. They have already notified the relevant services in Germany and the Czech Republic.

The attacker, probably a young man, stole a navy-blue Mercedes 190 D with registration number DBL 72HL.

Police are asking anyone who may be able to help apprehend the perpetrator to come forward. Information can be provided by telephone (997 or 075 732 36 01) or in person at the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.
