The exhibition opening took place on December 22 at the Gallery of Talented Young People at the Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury. The aim of the “Our Places” project, carried out as part of the government’s “Zero Tolerance for Violence at School” program, was to preserve the memories associated with the magical places of Bolesławiec and nearby towns. The initiative was addressed to all residents of our city and county, regardless of their age or how long they had lived in the area.

“Organizing projects of this kind is a great pleasure for me,” says Ewa Lijewska, director of the MDK. “I saw tremendous commitment from both the teachers and the participants. They truly put their whole hearts into it—especially since we had little time. But it was worth it!” she adds.

Worth it—not only because of the artworks presented in the MDK gallery, created using various techniques, including prints, ceramic works and stained glass. As part of the project, the Bolesławiec cultural center also published its first book in its history, “Our Places.” It contains texts created during MDK literary workshops, among others. The anthology also includes two stories written by Paweł Śliwko.

Everyone who attended the exhibition opening had the opportunity to watch a film about the most beautiful places in Bolesławiec, produced by young people from the MDK’s media social animation studio.

The exhibition opening was also accompanied by the first concert of Christmas carols and pastorales performed by young people from the music studio. It was an exceptional and family-oriented concert. The mothers of the young female vocalists from the MDK were persuaded to join the communal carol singing. “In the future, perhaps we will manage to persuade the authorities to sing with us. Everything is still ahead of us,” says Ewa Lijewska.
