The Village Renewal Plan for Gromadka developed during the workshops will be a necessary attachment to applications submitted by the municipality under the Rural Development Programme for 2007–2013.
The meetings were led by Beata Castanieda of the Kaczawskie Association. Participants in the workshops included: Gromadka commune head Dariusz Pawliszczy, Ewa Potyszka, a member of the Bolesławiec County Board, Robert Furman, head of the School Complex in Gromadka, Bożena Kuchmacz, head of the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Gromadka, commune councillors Tadeusz Gąsiorowski, Anna Pacha and Jerzy Świerszcz, as well as village residents.
After an introduction to the issue of obtaining funding from the European Union’s Rural Development Programme, the workshop participants worked in several thematic groups dealing with an analysis of the economy, infrastructure investments and the social problems of residents. The results of each group’s work were then presented by their leaders and discussed in plenary.
Based on the conclusions of the discussions, a SWOT analysis was prepared, highlighting the village’s strengths and weaknesses and identifying opportunities and threats to its future social and economic development. The opportunities included the possibility of balanced industrial development in the area of the Legnica Special Economic Zone adjoining the village (Krzywa), as well as the development of agrotourism in the remaining areas of the village and adjacent territories. The main threats identified were significant deficiencies in infrastructure, both industrial and that meeting residents’ basic needs, as well as a considerable risk of vandalism by young people.
After taking substantive and formal criteria into account, the Village Renewal Plan for Gromadka will be handed over in the second half of January to the initiators of the document’s preparation: Gromadka Commune and the Wrzosowa Kraina Foundation.
