The event is being held for the eighth time. It is organized by Amnesty International (AI), an organization that defends human rights. A number of well-known figures, including Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Aga Zaryan and Ewelina Flinta, have announced that they will write their own letters in defense of women. Last year, almost 22,000 letters were written in Poland (and more than 110,000 worldwide). Of the 12 cases from the previous event, 6 have already had a positive outcome.

This year, letters should be written on behalf of five women. The letters should be short, polite and refer to facts (which you will find below in the links in the descriptions of the individual cases). Letters may be written in Polish. Once written, they should be sent to the address you will also find in the links below, in the description of each case. A copy of the letter should also be sent to the embassy of the country concerned in Poland. If you receive a reply, forward it to the Polish branch of AI.

Bolesławiec.org encourages participation in the campaign.
