The opening of the photographic exhibition “1918: Battles for Lviv” took place at Bolesławiec Town Hall on December 5. Zdzisław J. Zieliński’s photographs document, among other things, the struggles of the defenders against Ukrainian units, resistance points, areas and sections controlled by the Polish army, as well as the figures of combat participants and tactical group commanders.
“It is worth remembering that the defenders of Lviv included a very large number of young people from Lviv, and even children. Among the children of Lviv’s streets who actively participated in the fighting was even a nine-year-old—the youngest participant in the defensive battles,” Bolesławiec Deputy Mayor Maciej Małkowski said during the exhibition opening.
The exhibition was organized by the Society of Friends of Lviv and the South-Eastern Borderlands. It can be visited during the office’s opening hours, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
