On 29 October, students from Lubań schools met at the 2nd Science Festival in the conference room of Łużyckie Centrum Rozwoju. The festival was organized by the Regional Centre for Ecological Education. The idea behind the event is to involve older students in passing selected knowledge on to younger students. It is also an opportunity for teachers to present themselves, serving as promoters in this case. This year’s event, held under the slogan “Technological achievements and nature,” was addressed to physics and technology teachers.

Teachers from two schools responded to the invitation: Gimnazjum nr 2 (promoter Sylwia Kucharczyk with 7 presenters) and Zespół Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych im. KZL (promoters Grażyna Redźko and Marek Woroniec with 5 presenters).

During the festival, sixth-grade students from Primary Schools No. 3 and No. 4 learned how electricity is used, as well as about related issues concerning the protection of nature and the environment.

Students from Gimnazjum nr 2 prepared a multimedia presentation combined with demonstrations of experiments. Thanks to the use of a mini-camera, all viewers could follow on the screen what was happening during the experiments. The presenters from ZSP im. KZL prepared multimedia material about hydroelectric and nuclear power plants. The sixth-graders also had to tackle puzzles whose answers were contained in the presentations. This was easy only for those who listened and watched carefully.

As a reward for their work and, it must be said, for overcoming enormous stage fright, the presenters and their promoters received beautifully published books about the Karkonosze Mountains. The primary schools that sent their sixth-graders also benefited, as their libraries were enriched with the aforementioned publication.

A total of 127 people took part in the event (106 sixth-grade students, 4 teachers, 12 presenters, 3 promoters and 2 RCEE employees). RCEE thanks the employees of Łużyckie Centrum Rozwoju for making the room and audiovisual equipment available and preparing them.
