This year’s Operation Znicz lasted from October 31 to November 4. The All Saints’ Day observances passed fairly peacefully. During this time, 11 collisions and one accident occurred in Bolesławiec County (a car ran over the foot of an intoxicated pedestrian). Fortunately, there were no fatalities.
Over the course of five days, police officers from Bolesławiec issued 70 penalty fines. Despite repeated appeals for caution and widespread coverage of the nationwide campaign in the media, police in Bolesławiec County alone detained seven people who were driving cars under the influence of alcohol. According to data from the Police Headquarters, nearly 2,000 intoxicated drivers were detained throughout Poland during Operation Znicz.
