On the night of October 19–20, three men were drinking alcohol on a bench in a park near the railway station. During the drinking session, an argument broke out among them. Two of them attacked the third man and severely beat him. However, the man managed to reach home on his own. He died there as a result of his injuries.

The police apprehended the attackers. Both had repeatedly come into conflict with the law. The District Court in Bolesławiec ordered them held in pre-trial detention for three months. The men will be charged with assault resulting in death. They face a sentence of between one and 10 years in prison.

According to data from the National Police Headquarters, the detection rate for participation in a brawl or assault between January and September 2007, compared with the same period the previous year, increased by 1.4 percentage points and currently stands at 80.6%.
