On October 16, in the auditorium of the State Music School in Bolesławiec, the Electoral Committee of the Left and Democrats Coalition – led by chairmen Stanisław Chwojnicki and Jan Cołokodzim – organized a meeting under the heading “Politics Through Music.” The guests who attended could meet candidates for the Sejm and Senate: Piotr Hetel, Jerzy Szmajdziński, Elżbieta Zakrzewska, Jerzy Łaskawiec, Zbigniew Rybka and Józef Kusiak.
The meeting was open to all residents of Bolesławiec and the surrounding area. As a result, the Music School auditorium was filled to capacity. The organizers also owed such a high turnout to the event’s unusual format. It was not an ordinary election rally. The politicians’ speeches alternated with successive parts of a concert by the musical group “Versus.” In addition, the assembled guests could view paintings by Paweł Śliwko, who was also one of the hosts.
Jerzy Szmajdziński, LiD’s lead candidate in the Legnica–Jelenia Góra constituency, spoke first at the meeting. He explained the name “Left and Democrats,” outlined the coalition’s program and criticized the dishonest campaign methods of the other political parties. The remaining candidates spoke about themselves and what they wanted to do for our region. The meeting also saw the unveiling of the main election slogans of the Bolesławiec left.
After the meeting, all guests had the opportunity to have their picture taken with the politicians and to speak with them face to face.
