A ceremonial assembly marking National Education Day was held on October 12 in the auditorium of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące. During the celebration of this special occasion, the school’s principal, Cezary Czernatowicz, thanked the teachers for their work. The principal presented awards to 12 of his employees—8 women and 4 men. As he admitted, he regretted that he could not honor all the teachers.
Cezary Czernatowicz honored the following women: Jolanta Kawula, Joanna Misiura, Małgorzata Naglik, Barbara Pasierbiewicz, Małgorzata Piotrów, Jolanta Sikora, Zofia Sobczyszyn and Barbara Stępień. Among the men, the honorees were Edward Florków, Ludwik Glazer, Andrzej Idzik and Wojciech Markiewicz.
“Such will be the Commonwealths as the upbringing of their youth”—this line by Jan Zamoyski could not be, and was not, missing from the artistic program prepared by the students of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące. In a beautiful, poetic manner, the students thanked their teachers for their dedication and for preparing them for adult life.
The National Education Day celebrations at I LO also brought changes to the School Student Council. Anna Zbroja became the new chairwoman, replacing Karolina Rowgało. Małgorzata Naglik took over from Edward Florków, the council’s previous supervisor. Anna Zbroja presented the teacher stepping down from the position with a desk set.
The school’s most important awards were also presented that day—the Helena and Wincenty Tyrankiewicz Scholarships for students distinguished by their academic performance. The recipients were Anna Olejnik, a student in class III a, Karolina Rowgało from class III c, and graduates Przemysław Wilas and Jerzy Lasocki. The graduates’ parents accepted the awards on their behalf.
Cezary Przybylski, the Bolesławiec County Governor, who attended the ceremony, emphasized that the local government authorities were proud that a school such as I LO existed in the county. He also said he was certain that the school’s students would become leaders in their respective fields. He added that he hoped the school’s graduates would build their futures in Bolesławiec.
