On Thursday, TOP Bolesławiec basketball players opened the third-division season at the sports hall in Gromadka. Our team faced LOSSM Wrocław. The first quarter began with a determined attack from our team. Several successful drives to the basket meant that after 10 minutes the scoreboard showed 22–17 for the Bolesławiec team.
In the next quarter, the fans watched an intense, point-for-point game. Although the Wrocław players had a height advantage, they were gradually broken down by fast drives and mid-range shots. Ultimately, TOP went into halftime leading 42–39. After the break, the visitors took control, scoring several easy points and taking a 60–57 lead in the game.
LOSM were in front until the final four minutes, but our players pulled themselves together and, from 68–70, scored 12 points while conceding only four. Ultimately, the match ended with an 80–74 victory for TOP Bolesławiec. The leading scorers for our team were Jacek Wójcik (32), Krzysztof Kureła (24) and Paweł Wilas (12).
