The opening of the “Beside the Exhibition of Wonders of the World” exhibition took place on 14 September at the “Pegaz” club. It is the first solo exhibition by Wojciech Graczyk, a student at I LO in Bolesławiec and the winner of numerous photography competitions. And soon, perhaps, a student at the Łódź Film School – as that is precisely what the young photographer plans for the future.
“I showed the best photographs I have at the exhibition. Photography is a way for me to express my second self,” says the talented Bolesławiec resident. “Photography carries a certain emotional charge: it may be calm, or it may be anger or another feeling,” the artist adds.
The exhibition itself seems to confirm these words. The works are highly varied. “Different photographs are associated with different feelings. Sometimes it is calm and bliss. At other times – anger, uncertainty, a storm,” the author explains. Importantly, all the photographs presented were taken with analogue cameras.
Why analogue photography in particular? “I believe analogue photography cannot be cheated. You cannot create a photomontage,” Wojciech Graczyk explains. “It shows what the photographer can do, what idea they have and how they bring it to life. Digital photography leaves plenty of room for processing photographs on a computer,” he adds.
As the young artist admits, the processing of the photographs displayed at the “Pegaz” club is minimal. The works can be viewed only until 19 September. The exhibition was organized as part of the OPEN ART Przestrzeń project, implemented by the Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury.
