During the night of 23–24 August, violent storms passed over Lower Silesia. Heavy rainfall caused water levels to rise dangerously in some localities near Bolesławiec. Virtually all households situated near the river in the village of Milików (Nowogrodziec municipality) have been flooded, after a true cloudburst struck the area. Local flooding also occurred in other localities in the municipality, including Gościszów. Some houses are effectively cut off from the outside world.
Flooded homes, damp indoors? Once the water has receded, it is worth drying out the entire house. To do it properly, you can hire a company or do it yourself.

“At the moment, we are waiting for the water to recede,” says Robert Relich, Mayor of Nowogrodziec. Once that happens, the water can be pumped out of the flooded basements. The appropriate services are on site. Our county fire service is being supported by firefighters from Lubań and Germany. Human life is not in danger. Only one person was evacuated during the night— a person with a disability who did not want to leave their home.
As the mayor of Nowogrodziec admits, it is too early to discuss the losses; nevertheless, committees have already been appointed to assess them. The victims themselves have not been forgotten either. “We will apply to the Lower Silesian Voivode for financial assistance,” Robert Relich announces. “We are already cooperating with the Bolesławiec County Governor and the Municipal Social Welfare Centre,” the mayor adds.
