We are publicizing the matter at the request of our Reader, a resident of Małachowskiego Street (the photographs presented here were also taken by him). The grass around the playground had not been mowed for a long time. It is already at least 40 cm long. Moreover, June and July are periods of intense grass pollination. Grass pollen is the most common cause of inflammation of the nasal mucosa. This is a serious problem, especially when someone has an allergy sufferer in the family or is an allergy sufferer themselves. This is precisely the situation of our Reader. Despite the heat, because of his wife and child he is essentially unable to open the windows.
Importantly, the lawn on Małachowskiego Street contains a playground. However, the residents of this street are well aware that it is used not only by children, but also by local drinkers. They very rarely bother to collect their cans or broken bottles afterward. It is obvious that broken glass is difficult to see in such tall grass. An accident—especially involving small children—could easily happen. Tenants pay rent and have the right to demand that their money not be wasted and that the cooperative maintain the area it manages. All the more so because this cooperative once received a nomination for the nationwide award of the business magazine Przegląd Gospodarczy of Gazeta Prawna in the “Solid Employer of the Year 2005” category.
It would also be worthwhile for someone to take notice of the appalling condition of the equipment on the playground. This is especially important because the media have recently been full of reports about accidents on sports fields and playgrounds. The grass was finally mowed today.
As we learned from Piotr Hetel, president of Bolesławianka, the decision on when lawns should be mowed is made by the management board and the company “Zieleń-Plan” of Zbigniew Wolański. “There is a standing order. We have money for three mowings this year. Perhaps there will be a fourth,” Piotr Hetel told Boleslawiec.org. Last year, the cooperative mowed its lawns only twice.
