On Tuesday, extraordinary meetings of members and supporters of BKS Bolesławiec and MKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec were held at the Pegaz club. In addition to footballers, officials, supporters and board members, the meetings were attended by Andrzej Kowal – President of the District Football Association in Jelenia Góra, and Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman. The members and supporters of BKS Bolesławiec met first. The BKS board presented a report on the club’s activities to date and received a vote of approval.
The city will help the new club
It was decided to dissolve the BKS Association and merge it with MKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec. The decision to dissolve BKS Bolesławiec and merge with Bobrzanie was influenced mainly by suggestions from the Mayor, who saw no point in financing two senior teams in two different sports clubs.
The Mayor promised that the city would support the new club. BKS was not entered in the National Court Register and therefore could not benefit from the privileges available to a public benefit organisation, including the possibility for individuals to donate 1% of their income tax. The new club will be a public benefit organisation.
New board and ambitious plans
On Tuesday, the composition of the new BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec club board was also appointed. The new board consists of: Edward Spraski, Janusz Baranowski, Józef Pokładek, Henryk Szewc, Damian Sawczak, Bartosz Kubica and Dariusz Wojtowicz.
The board has not yet elected a president. Many matters still need to be settled. One of them is the club’s colours; the current logo presented by Boleslawiec.org is temporary. The plans for the new club are ambitious. Support from the city and sponsors is expected to raise the standard of football in Bolesławiec. The new club will have two senior teams: the first in the IV league and the second in the district league. Next season, the first team is to compete for promotion to the III league. The club will also train eight youth and children’s teams.
