Jan Rus, chairman of bolesławiecki PiS, received permission to enter into a coalition. He may bring party leader Jarosław Kaczyński a new prize in his teeth: a piece of bolesławiecki county. He says nothing directly because talks are ongoing, but we can suspect that he will go with those who offer him the most. Can he count on the position of deputy county head?

The battle for the county is in full swing. Following our article, county head Dariusz Kwaśniewski officially revealed the cards in the conflict between Civic Platform and PSL. In a statement, he accused his deputy Marianowi Haniszewskiem of “fundamental deficiencies in basic knowledge and skills in the field of local government”; he also wrote that “the current deputy county head is a person who unscrupulously exploits illness [Kwaśniewskiego] to pursue his political ambitions.”

Two PSL councillors loyal to Haniszewski left the Civic Platform–PSL–SLD coalition. The coalition has been weakened. It now has ten councillors. Karol Stasik has increasingly little chance of keeping the county head’s position for Civic Platform. However, even with PiS councillors on board, his opponents do not have it easy. Thirteen votes are needed to dismiss the county head.

To remove Civic Platform from power, it is not enough to combine Ziemia (4 votes), Forum (3 votes), PiS (2 votes) and the two PSL councillors loyal to Haniszewski. Three more PSL councillors who are in conflict with Haniszewski must also be persuaded. But what can they be offered in return?
