– Changes to train services are essential so that thousands of trains can run smoothly while work is being carried out on the rail network – PKP PLK representatives explain. – Passengers can already plan their journeys: posters showing the timetable effective from next weekend are available on platforms and at stations, as well as online.
The October adjustment is largely related to scheduled maintenance work on railway lines and will remain in force until 10 December. A new annual timetable for 2016/2017 will then come into effect. – At that point, rail journeys will be even shorter and more comfortable – the company assures.
Travelling in the south of the country
Due to work planned by PLK on lines leading to Zakopane, passengers will use replacement transport on selected days. For example, from 3 October to 10 December, because of a suspension of traffic on the Kraków Płaszów–Zakopane section, a bus will operate instead of the TLK Malinowski train. Passengers will travel directly to Zakopane on the TLK Luna and TLK Wenus night trains. Because of single-track traffic on the Katowice Ligota–Tychy section from 17 October to 10 December, Monday through Friday the IC Korfanty train will operate on a shortened route to Katowice. At weekends, this train will run its full route, namely Warsaw–Bielsko-Biała–Warsaw. From the start of the adjustment, passengers travelling from Lublin and Stalowa Wola towards Rzeszów will gain a new, convenient stop: Chmielów Zagumnie. The PLK investment, worth nearly PLN 800,000, will improve transport links in the region.
By train through Greater Poland
Trains are returning to the Krotoszyn–Jarocin route following PLK work that improved travel safety on this section. Changes to night connections between the capital of Greater Poland and Wrocław are planned until 10 December. The IC Centaurus and TLK Aurora trains will take a diverted route via Ostrów Wielkopolski.
By rail in the north and centre of the country
PLK is continuing work on the Włocławek Brzezie–Aleksandrów Kujawski section, so the IC Chemik and IC Doker trains will take a circular route from Kutno to Bydgoszcz via Zamków and Inowrocław. The completion of the reconstruction of Skierniewice station and of section 1 of the Koluszki–Widzów Teklinów railway line means the return of selected PKP Intercity services suspended until 15 October: IC Górnik and IC Fredro. During the adjustment period, PLK has scheduled overnight track work on the Łódź Widzew–Kutno route. For several days, replacement transport will be available instead of some regional trains, while on selected days the Bielsko-Biała–Gdynia–Bielsko-Biała TLK Wenus service will take a diversion via Łowicz Główny.
A cultural journey to Poland’s western neighbours
The weekend connection from Wrocław Główny to Berlin Lichtenberg station and back has been extended until 10 December. The “Train to Culture” services operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie were originally scheduled to run only until 25 September. The connection is part of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016 event.
Information about the current train timetable is available at stations and stops in the form of posters and on portalpasazera.pl and rozklad-pkp.pl, as well as directly from railway operators. Information about the PKP Intercity timetable can be found at intercity.pl. You can also call 19 757.
