Every resident can provide police officers with information about threats they have observed. The reports will be verified by police officers. The National Threat Map is an online tool that allows residents to report places and incidents which, in their opinion, are dangerous. Every signal submitted to the police in this way will be checked by officers. The launch of the new application, also available to residents of Bolesławiec County, began with a press conference at the headquarters of the County Police Headquarters. Among those attending were County Police Commander Insp. Henryk Stefanko and Deputy Inspector Krzysztof Policht, head of the Prevention Department.
The National Security Threat Map is based on information catalogued in three areas:
- information collected in police information systems
- information obtained from the public during direct contact with citizens, local-government representatives and non-governmental organisations, as well as during public debates devoted to public safety
- information obtained from citizens (internet users) using the information exchange platform.
- The information presented on the maps includes both selected categories of crimes and offences and threats which, in residents’ subjective opinion, negatively affect their sense of safety.
To report information about a particular place where, according to the reporting person’s subjective assessment, disturbing phenomena that violate the law are occurring, one must visit the police website of the provincial, city or county police headquarters. A banner linking to the National Threat Map will be visible on the home page. The first time the National Security Threat Map is opened, the user will see the terms of service. To add a dangerous location to the map, it is necessary to read and accept them. Once this is done, a map window will appear containing all reports submitted by service users. Using the virtual tools provided by the National Security Threat Map, we can mark a location we want to bring to the police’s attention, indicating the type of threat we believe exists there. In case of difficulties using the service, we can always consult the instructions, which are available in digital form on the National Security Threat Map website. The report will be forwarded to officers in the relevant police unit. The collected information will then be checked by police officers.
It should be remembered that reports submitted through the National Security Threat Map do not replace the need for urgent police intervention. In such cases, the emergency numbers 112, 997 should be used.
The tool should be used responsibly. Every threat entered will trigger an appropriate response from the Police. One threat per day can be reported from a single internet connection.
