The conference is one of the most important meetings of representatives of the ceramics industry from across Poland and abroad. This year, AGH hosted more than one hundred scientists and industry representatives from, among others, France, Germany, Italy, the USA, Canada and China.
Anna Bober-Tubaj, director of the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec, spoke at the conference about the design and technology of Bolesławiec ceramics. In addition to the history of our stoneware, part of the presentation was devoted to two artists: Bronisław Wolanin (chief designer at the “Ceramika Artystyczna” Artistic Handicraft Cooperative from 1964 to 1980 and from 1980 to 2012) and Janina Bany-Kozłowska (chief designer at the “Bolesławiec” Ceramic Works since 1987), as well as the current state of development of ceramic companies in the Bolesławiec region.
An important element of the presentation was also the history of cooperation between Bolesławiec and Kraków’s AGH. From 2003 to 2011, AGH operated an off-campus teaching center in our town. Since the 1990s, many conferences for the ceramics industry have also been organized in Bolesławiec, Nowogrodziec and at Czocha Castle. Lecturers from Kraków’s AGH also took part in them, including: Prof. Jerzy Lis, Prof. Piotr Izak, Prof. Mirosław Bućko, Prof. Piotr Wyszomirski, Dr Janusz Partyka and Dr Marcin Gajek. Recently, an important event was the signing of mutual cooperation agreements with the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków by two Bolesławiec companies: the “Ceramika Artystyczna” Artistic Handicraft Cooperative (August 2015) and the “Bolesławiec” Ceramic Works (October 2015). The “Manufaktura” Stoneware Tableware Factory is also planning to conclude another agreement. The companies mentioned also supported and continue to support the organization of conferences in Kraków—for example, during this year’s edition, 12 invited speakers received commemorative plates funded by the “Ceramika Artystyczna” Artistic Handicraft Cooperative. In the future, AGH lecturers are interested in strengthening cooperation not only with Bolesławiec companies, but also with the Association of Ceramic Municipalities of the Republic of Poland
