The incident occurred on Saturday, 10 September, at around 2:00 p.m. A patrol of the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police went to the scene. It turned out that the man had left the Nowy Rynek shopping centre in Jelenia Góra, slid down an embankment and nearly fell into the Młynówka canal.

The KPP rescue officers moved the man to a safe place. The injured man was very weak and it was difficult to establish contact with him. A characteristic smell could be detected from the man’s mouth, but it was not the smell of alcohol. The rescuers immediately called an ambulance to the scene.

The guards’ suspicions were confirmed. The 40-year-old man’s blood sugar level was several times above the permitted level. He was taken to hospital.
