The duty officer at the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters was informed by firefighters about a burning apartment in one of the tenement buildings near the Municipal Park. A team of Legnica police officers, accompanied by a forensic technician, was sent to the scene. A fire investigation expert was also appointed.
Police established that the apartment had been set on fire by a 46-year-old man from Legnica. He was detained. What is more, he was drunk at the time of his arrest: he had more than 2 per mille of alcohol in his system, and the reason for the arson turned out to be heartbreak. The 46-year-old arsonist now faces up to eight years in prison. The man has already been temporarily detained.
