Andrzej Kuriata, head of the Public Procurement and Municipal Investments Department at Bolesławiec City Hall, presented councillors with a draft resolution on the development of public transport in the Urban Municipality of Bolesławiec: “The Urban Municipality is currently preparing an application for funding to purchase 13 buses. These are 13 low-emission, modern, low-floor buses adapted to carry people with disabilities.”
The investment is worth approximately PLN 12 million. “We thought that, as part of this project, we would also be able to install information boards at bus stops. However, we cannot apply for funding for these boards,” A. Kuriata explained to the councillors. “But that does not mean we are abandoning the boards; we will apply for them under other projects.”
The justification for the draft resolution on the development of public transport in the Urban Municipality of Bolesławiec states:
The Urban Municipality of Bolesławiec intends to apply for ERDF funding under the Lower Silesian Regional Operational Programme 2014–2020 for a low-emission public transport project (Measure 3.4 Implementing low-emission strategies – Sub-measure 3.4.1 Implementing low-emission strategies) to purchase 13 low-emission, modern, low-floor buses adapted to carry people with disabilities [...].
The current executive agreement between the Urban Municipality of Bolesławiec and Miejski Zakład Komunikacji sp. z o.o. in Bolesławiec for the provision of public collective transport services expires on 25 November 2019. In order to properly implement the project, it is necessary to ensure the continuity of the agreements, meaning that agreements must be in place from the signing of the funding agreement, expected in 2017, until the end of the project’s durability period, that is, for five years from the date of completion of the project’s financial implementation.
The proposal being presented responds to the expectations of city residents, including those with the lowest incomes, and at the same time aims to encourage people to give up their cars in favour of public transport.
The councillors unanimously adopted the resolution. We will return to this topic.
