The National Programme Conference of the Young Democrats Association was held in the Sejm building. Young people discussed education and the activities of Minister Roman Giertych. Twenty young residents of Bolesławiec took part in Sunday’s meeting. The conference was attended by MP Krystyna Szumilas, Chairwoman of the Sejm Committee on Education, Science and Youth.
Conference participants expressed a negative opinion of Minister Roman Giertych’s actions. The politicisation of Polish schools was criticised. The idea of making school uniforms compulsory was also criticised. New ideas concerning schooling and education emerged during the conference, including the introduction of a “Rights Charter for Matura Candidates”.
MP Krystyna Szumilas announced that the educational programme of Platforma Obywatelska would be developed on the basis of ideas presented during the conference. More than one hundred Young Democrats from across the country took part in the conference. The trip of the Bolesławiec participants to Warsaw was co-organised by Łukasz Król and Wojciech Kasprzyk.
