During the presidency of Karol Stasik (Platforma Obywatelska), Zakłady Ceramiczne Bolesławiec appeared in every parade as Zdobinki (women and men painted with peacock eyes). Zdobinki are an original and patented idea Ewy Michalak-Stasiak and Danuty Amborskiej.

The new president, Wiesław Ogrodnik (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość), who took up the position in the middle of the year, decided not to involve the workforce in marching in the parade opening the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival. In a letter to the organizer, he informed them that the company would not participate in the parade because it had time-sensitive orders that had to be completed within a short period and could not risk downtime.

Despite this decision, Zakłady will actively participate in the Ceramic Festival. As every year, they are organizing a fair on Kościuszki Street, exhibiting at the ceramic market in the Market Square, and organizing numerous attractions for Bolesławiec residents and visitors.

Is giving up the parade right at the beginning of his tenure as company head a good decision by the president? It is difficult to assess. Deadlines are approaching, and the workforce is paid from what Zakłady produce, not from appearing in the parade. It is certainly a pity that there will be no Zdobinki, because they were one of the most beautiful presentations during the parade.

Can a hidden meaning be found even when there is none? Of course. Most Bolesławiec residents remember that Wiesław Ogrodnik, former President of Zakład Energetyki Cieplnej, was dismissed from his position in May 2015 after President Piotr Roman refused to grant him a vote of approval. Now one can construct a neat story that another enemy of the president has appeared. Who will believe it? There are people who want to believe it so strongly that they will believe anything.

Last year, one man handed out his newspaper in the Market Square and shouted that the newspaper had written the truth about who destroyed Gliniada in Bolesławiec. This year, when the organizer of Gliniada for the second time did not put on a good event for Bolesławiec residents because he was offered almost half of the PLN 45,000 he wanted, something else needs to be shouted while handing out the newspaper during the festival. Perhaps this slogan will catch on: “Read in my paper which ceramic plant turned its back on the Ceramic Festival and the president”?

Of course, this is only speculation. Perhaps the man with the newspaper will not shout anything? Or perhaps he will come up with yet another slogan…
