The project is being carried out as part of the INTERREG Poland–Saxony Cooperation Programme 2014–2020. Bolesławiec’s partner is Zittau. Together with our German partner, we secured funding for the project “Culture without borders – renovation of the amphitheater in the city park in Bolesławiec and the open-air stage at »Weinau« in Zittau”. The funding secured for Bolesławiec amounts to PLN 1,529,655, representing 85% of the costs of redeveloping the amphitheater.
The new amphitheater will have 435 seats. The worn-out benches and steps will be dismantled. The old surfaces of the amphitheater and stage will be removed. The new seats will be made of concrete, with seating surfaces finished with strips of exotic wood. The project includes, among other things, the construction of sandstone stair treads, the installation of railings made of stainless-steel pipes, and the laying of surfaces on risers and circulation routes. The stage foundation will be made of concrete, with the edges and stair plinths finished with sandstone. The stage surface is planned to be made of colored epoxy resin. The area will be illuminated. Shrubs are planned to be planted on the slope behind the amphitheater audience area.
For two years, the park on Tyrankiewiczów Street has featured a multigenerational playground with several recreation zones for all age groups. The new layout of the playground has created greater opportunities for active leisure. A “Farm” corner has been planned for the youngest children; the playground also includes inclusive equipment accessible to children who use wheelchairs. The three sports and fitness zones contain fitness equipment and a health trail. For older children, there is a rope course, a climbing wall and multifunctional play structures. Varied surfaces are intended to ensure safe play. Those looking for a quieter corner have not been forgotten either. An additional attraction is a set of educational boards. The new equipment, paths and surfaces have been integrated into the existing trees and vegetation.
