The exhibition will present nearly sixty works by the renowned Bolesławiec artist, who died in 2015. The display will include large-format oil paintings, pastels, small-format watercolours and ceramic tiles. The artist’s principal subjects included landscapes, particularly vedute depicting views of Bolesławiec’s streets, historic buildings and alleyways. A large group consists of landscapes created at different times of the year. The surrounding villages, with their natural qualities, also inspired the artist; some works were inspired by travels around Europe, mainly in Italy. Mieczysław Kozłowski also created genre scenes and portraits. Those immortalised by him included family members, friends and people close to him who played an important role in his life.
The work of Mieczysław Kozłowski was inspired by experiences arising from the surrounding world and nature. He emphasised clear composition with rich colours. He used luminous hues, creating the impression of a quivering surface texture, and handled chiaroscuro exceptionally well.
The exhibition curator is Janina Bany-Kozłowska. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue. The works presented at the exhibition and in the publication were loaned from the collections of: Krystyna and Krzysztof Galas, Danuta and Adolf Gryc, Małgorzata and Patryk Gryc, Regina and Jan Haniszewski, Małgorzata and Jerzy Klementowicz, Wioleta and Daniel Obleszczuk, Elżbieta and Jan Ośko, Maria and Jan Leon Stasiak, Irena and Karol Stasik, Krystyna and Stanisław Szypulski, Anna and Sławomir Tubaj and the Artist’s Family.
