The tragedy occurred on June 30, at approximately 5:14 p.m., on national road no. 3 in Piechowice. Preliminary findings indicate that the 59-year-old driver of a Citroen Xsara, traveling from Jelenia Góra toward Piechowice, veered into the opposite lane for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a Peugeot Boxer driven by a 42-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra.

The 59-year-old Citroen driver died at the scene. The Peugeot driver was sober and suffered only general bruising; he did not seek medical assistance.

The 59-year-old man’s body was secured; an autopsy will determine the cause of death. The vehicles were secured in the Municipal Police Headquarters parking lot for further procedural activities. The on-site activities were carried out with the participation of a prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

The police are currently investigating the causes of the accident.
