The man, suggesting to three young women that they had committed theft, took them to a restroom, where he ordered them to undress and touched their intimate areas. The incidents occurred on June 21 this year in the evening.

The 33-year-old suspect, Łukasz W., from Chojnów, had worked as a security guard for three years and was on the afternoon shift at the time, from 3:00 p.m. to midnight. Although he was at work, a friend came to see him; they watched the Poland–Ukraine match and drank 0.5 litres of vodka.

At around 9:00 p.m., he stopped a 21-year-old woman for inspection and informed her that he suspected her of theft. Under the pretext of conducting an inspection, he took the girl to the restroom. There, he ordered her to take off her clothes and turn her back to him, then touched her intimate areas.

Similar incidents occurred twice more that day, involving two 16-year-old girls. In one case, the perpetrator limited himself to touching the girl’s neck and back.

After returning home, one of the girls told her boyfriend about the incident, while the other told her father. In both cases, the men decided that the matter needed to be clarified and returned to the store. When one of the girls’ boyfriends was already talking to the perpetrator in the shopping arcade, the 16-year-old arrived with her father. She overheard the conversation. The women then realized that both had been victims of molestation. The younger girl’s father notified the police.

After arriving at the supermarket, officers tested Łukasz W.’s sobriety. It turned out that he had more than 1.5‰ of alcohol in his exhaled air. The man was detained.

The following day, another 16-year-old girl came forward. Łukasz W. had also molested her. After promptly questioning the first two victims before the court and the third by the police, the prosecutor brought charges against Łukasz W. Such acts are punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment in cases involving violation of bodily integrity, or up to eight years in prison in cases of deceptive molestation.

When questioned as a suspect, the aforementioned man did not admit to committing the alleged acts. He claimed that the girls had conspired against him. He did not deny drinking alcohol at work. During the proceedings, it was established that the victims had not known one another before and had not spoken to each other. The method of inspection used by the suspect was also absolutely unacceptable and contrary to the applicable regulations.

Because the circumstances of the case raised no doubts, the prosecutor placed the suspect under police supervision, prohibited him from approaching the victims within 50 metres, and barred him from contacting them in person, through third parties, by letter, by telephone or via electronic communications. He was also, crucially, suspended from working as a security guard.

Łukasz W. has also been dismissed from his job on disciplinary grounds. The proceedings are ongoing.
