Fans informally call them “Minuty” (“Minutes”). They have existed since 1995. They have released five albums, including a live album from 2004 titled “XL Live”. The latest Minuty album, “Mom”, was released by Humbug, a division of one of the largest record companies, Universal Music. As they wrote on their website, they are known for captivatingly combining funk energy with elements of blues, jazz and ethnic music. Their songs evoke the spirit of the work of such brilliant artists as Billy Holiday and Frank Zappa. It is therefore no surprise that their debut album “Shooba Dooba”, despite being released by an independent label without substantial promotional funding, met with a very positive response from both fans and critics. This is evidenced, among other things, by two awards for best newcomer, presented by the prestigious Czech music periodicals “Rock & Pop” and “Rock Report”, as well as the Czech Popular Music Academy award, which the band received in 1999.
The Czech trio has performed in the Netherlands, France, Slovakia, the United States, England and Ukraine. In Poland, the band has already performed more than one hundred times, including at Muzyczne Studio Trójki. As the musicians themselves acknowledge, Poland has become a second home for them over the past ten years. The Bolesławiec concert will begin at 18:00. The supporting act will be the band Margines.
The band consists of: Zdenek Bina – guitar, vocals; Frederik Janacek – bass guitar; Martin Vaigl – drums.
