On June 26, at around 10:25 p.m., a woman called the police emergency number and reported that a drunk mother was caring for a 3-month-old infant.
At the scene, the officers found a woman holding the infant in her arms. She was completely drunk and unsteady on her feet. A breathalyzer test showed more than three promille of alcohol in her system.
The 31-year-old was aggressive and vulgar during the officers' intervention. The child was taken to hospital for examination, but the doctor found no signs of neglect.
Moreover, the police determined that the woman was wanted by the District Court in Lwówek Śląski—she was to serve a substitute sentence of 11 days in prison for an unpaid fine.
The 31-year-old was taken into police custody. The family court will be notified of the situation. The police are currently investigating whether, by caring for the child in such a state, the mother created a danger to the child's life or health.
