The Kaczawskie Mountains are part of the Western Sudetes. The mountains are characterised by a distinctive mosaic structure, resulting from long and complex geological processes. The region is characterised by diverse rock substrates, fertile soils, a mild climate and rich vegetation. Numerous caves occur around Wojcieszów, preserving traces of habitation by prehistoric humans. Undoubtedly, one of the attractions of the Kaczawskie Foothills is Chełmy Landscape Park, especially Myśliborski Gorge, located within the park. It is the only place in Lower Silesia where visitors can admire the very rare tongue fern. The Kaczawskie Mountains and Foothills also feature unique architectural monuments, such as the 17th-century Church of Peace in Jawor and the medieval castles in Grodziec, Legnica, Bolków and Prochowice.
