The exhibition “A Glass Deposit of Imagination” demonstrates what an astonishingly versatile and highly malleable material glass is. However, the artists whose works are assembled at the Bolesławiec museum are united by more than just the material in which they create their works. All the artists are associated with the Glass Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Some of them are graduates, but the vast majority of the exhibits are works by professors at the Wrocław academy, including Jerzy Chodurski, Zbigniew Horbowy and Małgorzata Dajewska.
The presented works often differ in virtually every respect: scale, form, colour scheme and expression. The exhibits include both abstract and figurative works, as well as stained-glass windows and sculptures. The “A Glass Deposit of Imagination” collection features sculptures made using such diverse techniques as fusing, slumping, cutting, grinding, engraving, sandblasting and firing.
The exhibition’s curator, Beata Mak-Sobota, and two young graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts, Antonina Joszczuk and Mariusz Łabiński, attended the opening. The guest of honour was the Mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman. The exhibition can still be viewed for another month and a half.
